The entire city of Vienna becomes a stage and celebrates literature and writers with readings, presentations and public debates.

The idea takes off.

BUCH WIEN, an international book fair and reading festival, perfectly scheduled one month before Christmas, finds just the right place, Vienna: A commercial and cultural hub in Central Europe, offering an ideal atmosphere and a perfect location, the new Messe Wien.

It redefines the existing Österreichische Buchwoche by combining a trade show for a wide audience with a reading festival, with the support by cultural and educational institutions, cultural organisations, publishers and book stores in Austria as well as exhibitors from throughout the German speaking region and neighbouring Central European countries.

BUCH WIEN will promote Austrian and international authors, their books, fiction and non-fiction, children and young adult literature, and titles covering all areas of interest and formats, from audio to fine and rare books.

The show is organised by the world’s leading organiser of trade and public fairs, Reed Exhibitions, in cooperation with the Austrian Publishers’ and Booksellers’
Association, the Hauptverband des Österreichischen Buchhandels.
